Makeup Review: Tarte Jelly Glaze Anytime Lip Mask

Selfcare wise, I’ve been enjoying having the time to focus on applying and reapplying lip balms. I’m okay with the application part, it’s the reapplying that I used to have a hard time reminding myself. My lips are not that dry, to begin with so forgetting is easy. Not saying it should stay that way. It’s just so easy to forget.

Now that I’m working from home, I have the luxury of reminding myself. While working, I’ve been using the Jelly Glaze Anytime Lip Mask from Tarte Cosmetics. These lip masks promise to hydrate and smooth the lips while offering a sheer tint. It uses squalane, hyaluronic acid, marine plant extracts, and a blend of avocado, jojoba argan oils.

I haven’t been wearing makeup everyday especially if I don’t have online meetings to attend to. If I do I just put brow makeup and one of the Jelly Glaze Anytime Lip Masks to add a bit of color and shine to make me look alive and not all nap-ready. They have the shades Strawberry (sheer pink), Grapefruit (sheer coral), and Toasted Coconut (sheer nude), which applies really sheer. I like Strawberry as the pink tint works for my lips.

These Lip Masks are pretty hydrating and moisturizing. I like about these lip masks because they apply thinly on the lips and it actually feels lightweight. It’s how I prefer my lip products because I do not like feeling something sitting on top of my lips while I work. It makes me want to eat, I don’t know why. I also like that even though they look slightly glossy, they don’t feel sticky. They claim to work both day and night but I usually use these in the morning as I prefer something much thicker at night. They also keep me from wetting my lips constantly, which prevents them from drying.

Skincare Review: I Dew Care Yogi Kitten Collection

I Dew Care recently released their Yogi Kitten Collection, which mainly uses heartleaf extract to calm while clarifying the skin.

The Namaste Kitten Clarifying Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil Cleanser ($19) promises to be a non-stripping cleanser that cleanses and balances the skin using hemp seed oil and heartleaf extract.

This creamy cleanser foams once mixed with water. It feels thick, almost like a mask, but it doesn’t tighten and it rinses fairly easily. True to its claim, cleanses the skin thoroughly and doesn’t leave any film or excess oil.

To detoxify blemish-prone skin, the Yoga Kitten Balancing Heartleaf Clay Mask ($23) uses heartleaf extract, eucalyptus, and kaolin.

I am honestly amazed as to how brands have evolved in terms of using kaolin clay. I usually related this ingredient to stripping and oil-busting masks, which I honestly have no problems. They clarify and thoroughly exfoliate my oily and acne-prone skin. However, even for my skin type, I use these kinds of masks sparingly because it can be too drying.

This feels gentle though. It has a cooling sensation to the skin. This creamy also applies thickly and tightens just a tiny bit as it dries. Upon rinsing, it leaves the skin refreshed, cleansed, and matte. This has been my go-to the past few weeks as it helps me keep my skin detoxified and exfoliated.

Using kale, spirulina, and chlorella, moringa seed extract, and niacinamide, the Juicy Kitten Purifying Power-Green Serum ($25) aims to nourish, soothe, purify, and improve the texture and tone of the skin while offering antioxidant benefits.

It’s lightweight yet slightly viscous texture is what I usually want in a serum. It feels gentle on the skin and it also sinks in quickly while leaving the skin feeling soothed and nourished. I like using this in the morning as it makes my skin look dewy and soft.

I really like using all the products from the Yogi Kitten Collection as they work so well for my oily skin. They came at the right time when my skin is acting up, and they became everyday products that help gently calm my skin. I still use a lot of actives but these products are what I focus on when my skin needs the break from strong treatments and when it needs calming and nourishment.

Haircare Review: The One by Fekkai The Brilliant One Color Shampoo, Color Conditioner, and Vibrance-Boosting Mask

Taking care of color-treated hair takes work but The Brilliant One from Fekkai promises to make it easier.

Using Red Sea Algae and color-enhancing complex, The Brilliant One collection promises to protect against color fade and extend the vibrancy of color-treated hair. Free of sulfates and parabens, their products also has the brand’s marine technology developed with Norwegian sea extract to help transform hair from the inside out by protecting against environmental conditions, including pollution and UV rays.

I am usually hesitant with haircare products promising to work for all hair types as my strands are dry and my scalp is just very difficult to manage. However, the Color Shampoo ($30) and the Color Conditioner ($30) are just gentle enough to not make my hair too limp or too frizzy. They also do not irritate my scalp making too dry or too oily. This is actually difficult to do especially with the weather getting warmer so that was a nice plus for me.

Both feel lightweight and they both leave my hair feeling light and soft while looking bouncy and shiny. I like using the Vibrance-Boosting Mask ($42) every weekend for extra care. I only apply it on the strands of my hair, though, not up to the scalp as it tends to get my scalp feel oily. This provides my hair extra shine without the greasy feeling.

Beautiful packaging and amazing fresh scent aside, the shampoo, conditioner, and hair mask all work together to make my color-treated hair look more vibrant and healthy.
