Skincare Review: Youth to the People Superfood Skin Reset Mask and Superfood Firm + Brighten Serum

I am a late passenger to the Youth to the People train but I can’t believe how good all the products I’ve tried to feel on my skin. Some of their products are already my favorites and I am adding a few more.

The Superfood Skin Reset Mask ($44) promises to balance and restore dull and tired skin using spirulina, bioactive microalgae, and kale. This creamy mask feels a bit warmer than most masks. It also stings a bit as it dried the first time I used it but that sensation was gone in the succeeding applications. It smells grassy and a bit rubbery but dries like some of the product sunk into my skin. It’s easy to remove despite the creamy texture. I use this twice a week during the weekdays as it provides hydration after each use. My skin also feels soft and looks bright whenever I use this. It’s the mask I go for if I want to refresh my skin.

I have a penchant for vitamin c serums because they just work so well for my skin. Recently, I am coming across more nourishing vitamin c serums and I am so not mad about it. The combination of vitamin c and peptides is something I didn’t know my face needed until I tried it. The Superfood Firm + Brighten Serum ($62) has tripeptide 5, cross-linked hyaluronic acid, and chelates vitamin c. This is the only vitamin c serum I’ve tried that’s hydrating to my skin. It has a light gel-like texture that sinks into the skin quickly, which totally works for my oily skin. It’s gluey and it smells a bit like it too but the scent dissipates after a few seconds. The consistency leaves the skin feeling plump and soft. I have more potent vitamin c serums but using this afterward leaves my skin feeling soft and hydrated. The texture also works well after makeup.

These products have been helping my goal to keep my skin hydrated and nourished. They all feel gentle and light on the skin and just leaves me feeling happy after doing my skincare routine. The Superfood Skin Reset Mask has recently been my go-to for masking after a long day. I am honestly glad to have come across Youth to the People because their products are not only effective but they also make my skin happy.

These products are vegan, cruelty-free, made with cold-pressed extract and formulated without parabens, phthalates, and dimethicone.

Skincare Review: Nektar Botanicals Black Tourmaline Detox Mask, Hibiscus Antioxidant Glow Mask, Cactus Flower Radiance Elixir

Something about using Nektar Botanicals makes me feel like I’m really taking care of my skin. It must be the all-natural ingredients, coupled with the fact that their products just straight up feels nice on my face.

As someone who loves masks, I got excited to get two masks from a brand. When I want to strip off all the impurities that have built up over the past few days, I lather on the Black Tourmaline Detox Mask.

Made with activated charcoal, spirulina, dandelion root, and white willow bark among other ingredients, this face mask never fails to make my skin feel a lot cleaner and detoxified.

And when I want to rejuvenate my skin, the Hibiscus Antioxidant Glow Mask has become my go-to. It’s made with french pink clay, goji berry powder, marshmallow root powder, raw cacao, and other natural ingredients. The mask wakes my skin up, giving it a kick when it starts to feel dull and lifeless.

What I like the most about these masks is how well they work together. I used both alternately and noticed how my skin got much smoother, to add to the fresh and clean feeling it left. The rough texture around my face was gone, and so were the random blemishes that had been bothering me.

Outside of the clay masks, their Cactus Flower Radiance Elixir promises youthful-looking skin without fine lines, texture, and wrinkles. It did a fine job, but the scent was very strong and smelled too much of plant extracts. This meant that I couldn’t use it for too long without being bothered by the smell. Maybe those who weren’t too sensitive to strong scents would like it more.

Out of the three, I enjoyed using the masks the most as they are gentle, detoxifying, and a joy to use.
