Skincare Review: Good Molecules Clarify & Cleanse Bar and Caffeine Energizing Hydrogel Eye Patches

Working from home now allows me to do a longer skincare routine. Featuring this morning’s routine feature these new vegan and cruelty-free drops from Good Molecules.

The Clarify & Cleanse Bar claims to be a gentle soap-free cleansing bar that clarifies and detoxifies the using salicylic acid, kaolin clay, rosehip oil, and grapeseed oil. This cleansing bar instantly makes a foam. As with most soaps, it was also easy to rinse off my face. It left my skin feeling soft, refreshed, and clean. The only con I could think of is that dissolves easily.

The Caffeine Energizing Hydrogel Eye Patches contains caffeine, acetyl tetrapeptide-5, niacinamide, and hyaluronic acid to brighten, hydrate, and reduce puffiness around the eyes in just 10 minutes. As with most eye patches, this is relaxing and soothing to the skin. I like using this while I work because it feels so hydrating and relaxing. I have yet to see it’s brightening benefits but this definitely de-puffs the eye area.

Cult Favorite: Holifrog Como Popp-E Renewal Scrubby Wash

I am more of a mask person than a scrub person but trying a lot of products made me appreciate scrubs more. Even though I really prefer masks I find that some scrubs really get when it comes to smoothing and softening my skin. I have tested a few scrubs but have only one in my stash and I’m happy to add the Como Popp-E Renewal Scrubby Wash from Holifrog. It was honestly love at first application.

This face scrub promises to exfoliate while nourishing the skin for a soft, dewy, and polished complexion without redness or irritation. It contains poppy seeds, bamboo stem powder, black currant seed oil, poppy seed oil, vitamin c, vitamin e, apricot kernel oil, borage seed oil, rosehip fruit oil, and astaxanthin.

It has a gel consistency that feels a bit oily but not oilier than I expected. I use this after double cleansing a couple of times a week. Due to the consistency, it almost feels like massaging a creamy, moisturizing mask onto my skin. It’s gentle and even though the poppy seeds don’t melt once it’s massaged onto the skin. I massage it for a few seconds before rinsing and I really like the instant result it gives.

After rinsing, my skin felt smooth and soft but not tight and dry. I have been using this once a week and I just really enjoy the feeling of my skin after each use. I will continue to use this and keep it as it just makes my skin look healthier and clearer. This is honestly my favorite product from Holifrog.

For those wondering, this product is also made without Acrylates, Alcohol (SD alcohol, ethanol, denatured, isopropyl, methanol or ethyl alcohol), Aluminum compounds, Benzalkonium Chloride, BPA, Butoxyethanol, Chemical Screens, Coal Tar Dyes, DEA, Detergent, Dyes, EDTA, Essential Oils, Ethoxylated ingredients, Formaldehyde, Fragrance, Heavy metal, Hydroquinone, MEA, Mercury + mercury compounds, Methylisothiazolinone, Mineral Oil, Palm oil, Parabens, PEGs, Phthalates, Polysorbate, Propylene Glycol, Resorcinol, Silicones, SLES, SLS, TEA, Toluene, and Triclosan.

Skincare Review: Filorga Global-Repair Cream

Compared to a few years ago, I have noticed my skin isn’t as taut and firm. That’s why I’m also focusing on hydrating and moisturizing my skin.

It’s what also piqued my interest when I found out about the Global-Repair Cream from Filorga. This moisturizer promises to treat devitalized skin.

It has a creamy gel-like texture that sets easily. It never felt greasy when applied and doesn’t leave my face looking and feeling oily when I wake up. It’s gentle and smells really nice too. I’ve chosen to keep this in my stash as it helps restore moisture and hydration to my skin without clogging my pores. I noticed how my complexion felt smooth after every application. My frown lines don’t seem as pronounced and my skin felt firmer. I absolutely like how it leaves my skin extremely soft and plump. It’s a moisturizer that I also use as a sleeping mask whenever my skin needs moisture and rejuvenation.

Skincare Review: Farmacy Beauty Cheer Up

New from the Cherry family of Farmacy Beauty, Cheer Up, a brightening eye cream that uses vitamin c from acerola cherry, hyaluronic acid, sacha inchi peptide, and caffeine. Aside from brightening, it also aims to firm, smooth, hydrate, and rejuvenate the eye area.

Cheer Up has a bouncy gel-like texture that is fun to touch. It’s like a soft frosting to cakes. It applies like a thin cream but it feels moisturizing to the skin, especially to my dry eye area. After almost a month of using this, I noticed how this keeps my skin from feeling too dry. It’s also plumping and it does help brighten the eye area. My eye area are natural dark and I have long given up on eradicating the dark circles under my eyes but this does help at least provide a bit of radiance.

Skincare Review: Georgette Klinger Honey Cleansing Gel and Charcoal Drying Lotion

A few months back, Georgette Klinger sent me these products to try.

The Honey Cleansing Gel ($24) promises to cleanse, soothe, and detoxify the skin using honeysuckle extract, chamomile extract, and marula oil. Following the name of this cleanser, it smells and feels like honey upon application. It was weird, yes, like a sticky serum but for cleansing. I prefer my cleansing to be in a foam form and I want them lightweight. I also want them to not leave a film after cleanser so I didn’t reach for this often.

I rarely get blemishes but I do get them. When I do, I need something to quickly zap and heal them. I used the Charcoal Drying Lotion ($19), which is an overnight spot treatment that unclogs pores and treats inflammation and irritation using salicylic acid, activated charcoal, zinc oxide, sulfur, camphor, calamine, and white willow bark.

With my fair share of drying lotion experiences, I expected this product to deliver fast and best results. The formula was what got me pumped up because I know for sure what charcoal can do to my oily skin. The smell was strong but bearable. The texture is just like any other drying lotion. There was a mild throbbing tingle when I first swabbed this on my skin. I found that this works best when the blemish isn’t in its full form yet. It takes about three days for this to flatten inflammation and redness. For full-blown zits, and acne patch after applying this would best help quicken healing.
