Makeup Review: Ren Skincare Perfect Canvas Clean Primer

The base of my makeup here is the newly-relaunched Perfect Canvas Clean Primer from Ren Skincare, which I’ve been using for the past couple of weeks. It promises to minimize pores, smooth the skin and grip makeup for long-lasting wear using probiotics, blue agave, and alpha-glucans. It also gluten-free, cruelty-free, and is formulated without silicone.

Aside from the pretty orange bottle, I instantly like how watery it is. At first touch, I knew my oily skin would enjoy it, Then as I put it on my face, it transforms into a denser liquid that has a bit of a slip, leaving the skin plump and firm. It sinks in quickly and dries matte as well, making it easy to apply foundation after.

I noticed though that it does play well over creamy skincare products. It tends to pill so I only use water or gel-based serums under this. It’s not mattifying but it blurs my pores a bit and it doesn’t aggravate the oiliness of my skin. Due to the consistency, it really does hold makeup together, making it last longer and prevent it from sliding down my face or gathering at the corner of my eyes and nose whether I use light or full coverage foundations over this one.

Bodycare Review: Ren Skincare Evercalm™ Overnight Recovery Balm

For your driest spots, the Evercalm™ Overnight Recovery Balm from Ren Skincare aims to nourish, moisturize, and soothe the skin.

This cruelty-free balm uses olive oil, almond oil, borage oil, linseed oil, jojoba and sunflower oil complex, and beta-glucan. It looks a bit oily but I like how the balm quickly sinks into the skin. I use this before sleeping on the dry parts of my body like my elbows and legs so I really need something that won’t stick to the sheets and leave me feeling uncomfortable at night. After more than a month of use, I saw how it soften and moisturized my skin. I think those with dry skin will thoroughly enjoy this balm.

Skincare Review: Ren Clean Skincare Clean Screen Mineral SPF 30

REN Clean Skincare recently came out with their first-ever SPF, the Clean Screen Mineral SPF 30, and I got to try it as a #RENPartner.

This SPF promises to be a mattifying face sunscreen that is no-shine, sensitive-skin-friendly, easily absorbed, and easily incorporated into your daily skincare routine. It offers Broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection, blue light protection, and non-nano technology. It’s also vegan and is made with yellow passion fruit seed extract to protect against pollution, rice starch to soothe and provide a matte finish, and zinc oxide to blocks and reflects UVA, UVB, Blue Light. This SPF is also formulated without silicone, oxybenzone, and chemical UV filters.

This is creamy with a typical SPF texture with a lighter consistency. It applies thick, though, and has a white cast. I can’t apply this alone on my medium toned skin and had to cover it with makeup to even out the tone.

As for its mattifying promise, it sort of delivers. I didn’t get overly oily for about four hours but after that, there was a bit of shine on my t-zone. It’s not overly shiny though and I didn’t feel the need to blot. However, I think this would better suit those with fair and oily skin.
