New In: Pixi Beauty Glow Tonic Collection

Pixi Beauty recently dropped their Glow Tonic Collection, inspired by the cult favorite toner, the Glow Tonic.

The Glow Tonic Cleansing Gel ($18) promises to be a hydrating cleansing gel to remove impurities without stripping the skin. This face cleanser has Moisclean™ and a blend containing glycolic acid, horse chestnut extract, aloe, and ginseng to help refine and brighten the complexion. This is light and has a fresh scent. It would be a good morning cleanser as it feels gentle on the skin. It cleanses without stripping the skin.

A lightweight serum , the Glow Tonic Serum ($24) aims to gently exfoliate, hydrate, and nourish using the same ingredient profile as the Glow Tonic with a mix of glycerin to hydrate the skin. This, I really like on first application as it feels so gentle on the skin. It’s also hydrating and I can’t wait to check if it can deliver the result of the toner.

For dry skin types, pHenomenal Gel ($24) works to balance and neutralize the pH of the skin while soothing and hydrating it. This soothing gel uses aloe, cucumber fruit extract, horse chestnut extract, camellia leaf extract, panax ginseng root extract, blueberry fruit extract, and witch hazel extract.

The On-the-Glow ($18) is a travel-friendly solid moisturizer that can be used on the face, lips, body, and hair. It is formulated with vitamin D2, glycolic acid, ginseng, and caffeine to protect, treat, and increase the moisture level of the skin. This feels light and I like using this on my hands after washing. It moisturizes the skin without leaving a sticky feeling.

Glycolic Acid helps my brighten and exfoliate my skin while combatting oiliness and dullness so I’m excited to use these products more especially the serum and the cleanser.

Cult Favorite: Pixi Glow Tonic

To be honest, I have only recently tried the Glow Tonic from Pixi Beauty, only late last year to be exact. I know, I know, people have been raving about it since forever but I never got around to trying it. First off, I didn’t know if this already existed when I was experiencing severe breakouts in my teen years during the last 90s. Second, when I found its existence I was already doing fine with the exfoliating toners I have and I didn’t feel the need to replace them. Now, I regret it. This toner should’ve been in my stash a long time ago.

The Pixi Glow Tonic promises to exfoliate the skin and clean pores by sweeping away excess oil and impurities. The alcohol-free toner contains 5% glycolic acid to remove impurities, aloe vera to soothe and hydrate, and red ginseng to protect and energize the skin.

It’s watery with a certain viscosity to it and the past few months I’ve been trying this gave me the clearest and most glowing complexion I’ve had. The past few months have actually been great for my skin. The products I’ve been using have been working so well, this included. I’ve read that this helped those with skin battling with acne and though I cannot attest to that because my skin has cleared up, save for some bumps here and there, what I can share is the effects of this cruelty-free toner on oily and aging skin.

I use this exfoliating toner thrice a week, on days I want to focus on brightening and softening my skin as this works well under my cream products. Nowadays, I use this when I want to take a break from my stronger exfoliating toner, before using a hydrating toner and following with my other products. I didn’t know my skin was looking for glycolic acid so much as a month after I used this, I noticed how bright and glowing my skin looked. Compared to my other toners, this is the only one that can revitalize and soften and brighten my skin. Love, love!

Makeup Review: Pixi Beauty PixiGlow Cake in GildedBare Glow and PinkChampagne Glow

Recently, I’ve been focusing on getting a glowing complexion so these humongous PixiGlow Cakes from Pixi Beauty came just right in time.

These highlighter/bronzer/blush palette is light-diffusing and promises to help achieve a naturally healthy and radiant complexion. It contains ceramides to help restore the skin’s moisture barrier, peptides to plump and firm, and grapeseed extract to improve elasticity. It comes in two variants – the PinkChampagne Glow which is a blend of rosé, hot pink and hazelnut and the GildedBare Glow which has sand, coral and taupe colors.

As you know, I’m not really a fan of powder products even though I have oily skin. This, however, is an exception. Most powder blushes look unnatural on my skin but this one doesn’t. It must be the shimmers. It doesn’t make my skin look too shiny but the finely-milled shimmers help compliment the gradient pigments of this palette, making it look natural and well-blended on my skin. Those with visible pores should be careful though as this emphasize the look of pores and textures.

The PinkChampagne Glow contains a blush that is a rosier version of my cream blush. If I want to look bright and rosy, I focus on the blush’s middle part on my cheeks or brush across the pan for a more glowing look. I like using this every day like a pop of color on my cheeks.

The GildedBare Glow has a more muted color variation. I like using it if I’m going for a monochromatic look or when I want my lip color to be the focus of my look. This is always useful for that no-makeup makeup looks because, for my medium skin, it looks almost unnoticeable and just give off that healthy plump looking complexion.

I also like that the pans look humongous as it looks like it would last me months as well. I’ve had it for a month and a half and it doesn’t look like I’ve made a dent. However, I feel like the ceramides, peptides, and grapefruit extract help but you should still use a skincare product to help plump and firm the skin.
