2019 Skincare Favorites

As you know, I love cleansing and these are the new cleanser I’ve added to my favorites.

Sekkisei treatment cleansing oil – I’m usually a balm person but this cleansing oil feels nourishing and gentle on the skin.

Youth to the People superfood cleanser – I love cleansing foams but this is just on a league of its own. it’s watery but foams, it smells great, and it feels so good on the skin.

Then I Met You living cleansing balm and soothing tea cleansing gel – this is just a very nourishing duo. it does the job of cleansing the skin while refreshing and nourishing the skin.

Ole Henriksen phat glow facial – this zaps my blemishes and gives my skin a ridiculous glow the morning after

Korres hydra-biome – this came in at the latter part of the year and I have barely a few months trying this but it’s just so good. It plumps, brightens, and improves my skin overall. Love it. Love it.

Youth to the People 11% AHA exfoliation power toner – this is strong on the skin but it does give stellar results of glowing and clear skin.

Whalmyung skin elixir – my go-to hydrating toner this year

Peach and Lily the good acids pore toner – gentle and good for daily use, this toner doesn’t just brighten the skin. It nourishes them too

Then I Met You birch milk refining toner and the giving essence – if you haven’t noticed I love @charlottejcho for giving me TIMY products this year. This duo are gentle and nourishing but not only that but they also plump and brighten the skin in the long run. Wander Beauty layover – my skin just drinks this in. it light yet so nourishing to the skin

Brand Overview: Lavido Purifying Facial Cleanser, Purifying Facial Toner, Replenishing Facial Serum, Mandarin Aromatic Body Lotion, and Thera Intensive Foot Cream

From the Galilee Valley, the vegan and cruelty-free brand Lavido uses botanicals, herbs, and fruit extracts to develop skincare products. Their products are also created without mineral oil, petroleum, silicones, propylene glycol, synthetic dyes, phenoxyethanol, synthetic alcohol, parabens, PEGs, and SLS.

A cleanser to balance the skin while melting away makeup and impurities, the Purifying Facial Cleanser ($29) contains pomegranate, orange blossom, and propolis. This gel cleanser feels gentle and soothing on the skin. After wash, my face feels smooth, clean, and fresh. However, it packs a strong fragrance which I don’t like.

The Purifying Facial Toner ($24) has similar key ingredients as the cleanser and promises to balance and refresh the skin. Same with the cleanser, this feels gentle on the skin. The solution is contained in a pump bottle and dispenses to form a small mass of bubbles when pumped onto a cotton ball. It leaves the skin smooth and fresh after application. However, this one comes scented as well. It’s not overpowering, but still, the scent is kind of strong for me.

Using pomegranate, lemon myrtle, and mandarin, the Replenishing Facial Serum ($59) aims to plump, retain moisture, and smooth the skin. I use this serum before bedtime to hydrate and nourish the skin. It doesn’t feel heavy and helps me keep my face soft, smooth, and supple especially after it gets absorbed into my skin. Out of all the products, this is my favorite because of how nourishing it feels on the skin.

For the body, the Mandarin Aromatic Body Lotion ($19) contains mandarin oil, orange oil, and bergamot oil to nourish and hydrate. This lotion has a whipped texture that smooths evenly on the skin. It also comes with a refreshing citrus scent. I have dry skin, and use lotion to calm down dryness. This lotion surprisingly doesn’t feel tacky and uncomfortable when applied even when I’m out. It sinks in quickly and feels light. I want a more moisturizing body lotion but this does soften my skin.

The Thera Intensive Foot Cream ($28) is for dry, cracked, or chaffed feet. It contains tea tree, achillea extract, and myrtle oil to soften and condition the skin. This foot cream has the same whipped texture as the body lotion but thicker. It also has a leafy scent to it. I like how it easily melts onto the skin as I massage it on my feet. It does manage to soften and smoothen my foot, especially dry areas like my heels. It also helps to keep it smelling fresh.

Bodycare Review: Intoxicating Beauty Radiance on Tap Sugar Polish and Salt Emollient Twist

A skincare cocktail, that’s how Intoxicating Beauty describes their products because they contain wine, hops, sake, and spirits and use these to nourish the skin. Even the packaging is inspired by wine, spirits, sake, and craft brew bottles.

The Radiance on Tap Sugar Polish ($58) is a body polish that promises to soften, soothe, hydrate, and moisturize the skin using natural beer, hops, crushed walnuts, ultra-fine sugar crystals, and botanical oils.

Meanwhile, the Salt Emollient Twist ($58) can be used in the face and body and aims to purify, balance, tone, and control oil production with vodka, shea butter, and salt crystals.

Since I prefer scrubs when it comes to exfoliating my body than my face, I focused this review on using both as body scrubs. Both helped my skin look brighter and even while keeping it moisturized. What I really liked about this is how moisturizing both felt on the skin and how they smelled so good. The Radiance on Tap Sugar Polish smelled like lime-infused beer while the Salt Emollient Twist smelled like sweet vodka. They both felt energizing and fresh. However, the oils tend to spill from the packaging so I hope it’s packaged tighter.

Skincare Review: The Gaffer and Child Facial Cleanser and Hydrating Serum

Made in small batches from organic and plant-based ingredients, Gaffer & Child aims to product timeless vegan and cruelty-free personal care products.

The Facial Cleanser promises to balance and moisturize the skin using sunflower oil, coconut oil, castor oil, olive oil, jojoba oil, green tea extract, and willow bark extract. This cleansing oil has a calming smell and leaves the skin feeling soothed and refreshed. It was able to remove everyday makeup without stripping the skin.

To hydrate the skin, the Hydrating Serum ($36) uses argan oil, tomato extract, cold-pressed carrot seed oil, sunflower oil, and lavender extract. First off, this smells amazing – the lavender stands out and gives off a relaxing scent. The oil-based #serum provides a glow to the skin. I prefer a more watery hydrating serum but those with dry skin might enjoy this.

Skincare Review: Niu Body Purify, Soothe, and Glow

Inexpensive Natural skincare? Niu Body creates vegan, cruelty-free, and plant-based products that won’t break the budget.

Promising to hydrate, brighten, soothe, and firm the skin, the Purify Gel Cleanser ($25) blends aloe vera, green tea, cucumber, and amino acids for radiant skin. This face cleanser gently removes impurities after a long day at work and leaves the skin feeling fresh and hydrated.

The Soothe Pink Clay Mask ($15) mask aims to clear congested pores and smooth the skin with white kaolin clay, french pink clay, and rosehip extract. This gentle clay mask makes the skin look bright and soft after every use. The face mask also works so well with my oily skin especially on days when my skin is feeling dirty and oily. I even use this to spot-treat.

For glowing skin, the Glow Luminizing Facial Serum ($30) blends camellia seed oil, jojoba oil, bergamot essential oil, and Vitamin E for a radiant and bright complexion. After a month of consistent use, this serum has made my skin look glowing. It’s fun for me to use because the serum doesn’t leave my skin feeling tacky. The product sinks in quickly to the skin and it’s a good support for the skincare products I already have.

These are good options if you are looking for natural products that will brighten and give you a glow.
