Skincare Review: I Dew Care Yogi Kitten Collection

I Dew Care recently released their Yogi Kitten Collection, which mainly uses heartleaf extract to calm while clarifying the skin.

The Namaste Kitten Clarifying Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil Cleanser ($19) promises to be a non-stripping cleanser that cleanses and balances the skin using hemp seed oil and heartleaf extract.

This creamy cleanser foams once mixed with water. It feels thick, almost like a mask, but it doesn’t tighten and it rinses fairly easily. True to its claim, cleanses the skin thoroughly and doesn’t leave any film or excess oil.

To detoxify blemish-prone skin, the Yoga Kitten Balancing Heartleaf Clay Mask ($23) uses heartleaf extract, eucalyptus, and kaolin.

I am honestly amazed as to how brands have evolved in terms of using kaolin clay. I usually related this ingredient to stripping and oil-busting masks, which I honestly have no problems. They clarify and thoroughly exfoliate my oily and acne-prone skin. However, even for my skin type, I use these kinds of masks sparingly because it can be too drying.

This feels gentle though. It has a cooling sensation to the skin. This creamy also applies thickly and tightens just a tiny bit as it dries. Upon rinsing, it leaves the skin refreshed, cleansed, and matte. This has been my go-to the past few weeks as it helps me keep my skin detoxified and exfoliated.

Using kale, spirulina, and chlorella, moringa seed extract, and niacinamide, the Juicy Kitten Purifying Power-Green Serum ($25) aims to nourish, soothe, purify, and improve the texture and tone of the skin while offering antioxidant benefits.

It’s lightweight yet slightly viscous texture is what I usually want in a serum. It feels gentle on the skin and it also sinks in quickly while leaving the skin feeling soothed and nourished. I like using this in the morning as it makes my skin look dewy and soft.

I really like using all the products from the Yogi Kitten Collection as they work so well for my oily skin. They came at the right time when my skin is acting up, and they became everyday products that help gently calm my skin. I still use a lot of actives but these products are what I focus on when my skin needs the break from strong treatments and when it needs calming and nourishment.

Cult Favorite: Tarte Knockout Daily Exfoliating Cleanser and Knockout Tingling Treatment

My face has been through some dark times and receiving the Knockout Daily Exfoliating Cleanser and the Knockout Tingling Treatment from Tarte brought back some memories I’d really like to forget. It made me with these products were available when I was in high school.

Using a AHA and BHA acid complex with lactic, glycolic, and salicylic acids, the Knockout Daily Exfoliating Cleanser promises to remove dead skin, refine pores, improve texture, brighten, and balance the skin. It also contains apple extract to hydrate and peppermint and eucalyptus to soothe, and eucalyptus to soothe the skin. Its gel texture emulsifies into a creamy milk-like lather.

It smells very clinical, which I don’t really mind but it’s worth noting for those who are sensitive. It feels cooling to the skin, which I enjoy. It can be a bit stripping for some but for my oily and clog-prone skin, I like it. This claims to be okay for everyday use but for me, I prefer to use twice a week and when my skin is feeling irritated and clogged. It wipes my face clean and devoid of any oil. I follow this with hydrating serums to balance my skin and makeup for the intense cleansing I just went through. This was especially helpful when I had a lot of blemishes a few weeks back as it helps keep my face clean and clear.

To treat, the Knockout Tingling Treatment promises to resurface, balance, control oil, minimize pores, and clarify the skin using niacinamide, salicylic acid, lactic acid, and sulfur.

I’ve heard a lot of people say that the BR P50 smells like vinegar and I think this toner took it as a challenge. This has a strong sour smell and, consistently, it also has a strong tingling feeling to the skin. Fortunately, both the tingle and the smell dissipate after a few seconds. I have used treatments like this before and by far, this felt the most intense. However, results are as intense as it felt. I used this thrice a week when my skin was irritated and after week, I noticed a lot of changes. It cleared up my skin and zapped all my whiteheads and pimples. I would definitely recommend this if you want some intense treatment for your irritated skin and clogged pores.

Using this combo made me get out of skincare hell but even if my skin isn’t that sensitive, I would recommend using this sparingly and when you do, pile on soothing and moisturizing products to support these.

Cult Favorite: Drunk Elephant F-Balm Electrolyte Waterfacial

With my recent focus on hydration, the Drunk Elephant F-Balm Electrolyte Waterfacial came at the right time. This new product is an overnight mask that promises to plump, cool, hydrate, and strengthen the skin with a 4-Electrolyte Blend (coconut water, sodium PCA, magnesium PCA, and prickly pear extract), vitamin f, niacinamide, 5-Ceramide Blend, squalane, and quercetin.

Reading the ingredients, it seemed like a nourishing and hydrating cocktail. The balm word in its name, however, sort of scared me. I don’t usually like applying balms on my face as I get easily clogged pores and my face is too oily to handle that kind of texture.

Nevertheless, I gave this a try and I was glad to find out that this doesn’t feel balmy at all. For an overnight mask, this actually feels light. Even in my roster of cream-based moisturizers, this is among the lightest. It is recommended to apply 4-5 pumps. It sits on top of the skin for a few seconds before leaving a silky smooth finish. It also feels nourishing and hydrating, like my skin is drenched from within. The morning after, the results are apparent. My skin is bright, plump, and glowing.

I like using this right after using acids, especially the Babyfacial because the combo just works so well on my skin, providing both nourishment and exfoliation. I would honestly recommend this to anyone looking for hydration and nourishment to the skin. It would also for those with sensitive skin as it is free off essential oils, silicones, fragrance, and PEGs. It’s also vegan and cruelty-free.

Skincare Review: Dr. Dennis Gross B3Adpative SuperFoods Collection

As I got older, I noticed how much stress is affecting me physically. Gone are the days when I go to work without any sleep. So, it’s very timely that Dr. Dennis Gross gifted me with the B3Adpative SuperFoods Collection.

This collection uses the B₃Adaptive SuperFoods™ Complex, powered by microencapsulated niacinamide, superfoods, and adaptogens to help correct and prevent signs of stress like fine lines, wrinkles, redness patches, flareups, tired eyes, and dark circles.

The Stress Rescue Super Serum is light and watery. It feels soothing to the skin. After a few weeks of use, I saw minimal improvement in redness. I have yet to see it’s effects on texture and lines. What I like about this, though, is how light it feels and that I can use it morning and night. It works well with other skincare and makeup products.

The Stress SOS Eye Cream is what I’ve really been enjoying at the moment. It feels really cooling on the skin, which you guys would know, feels amazing after being in front of multiple screens the whole day. It really helped in soothing and hydrating my tired and dry undereyes. I will have to check in the future if its claims of firming and brightening will take effect.

I found the Stress Repair Face Cream a bit heavy for my oily skin so I used this sparingly. It’s really creamy and even though it doesn’t feel like it sits on top of the skin, I felt its weight.
