Skincare Review: Laneige Water Bank Hydro Essence, Water Bank Moisture Cream, and Water Bank Hydro Gel

I’ve said this many times over but I have a special spot for Laneige. It’s one of the first brands I tried when I got into skincare and I still have the Water Sleeping Mask in my stash even until now. What I like about the brand is how they use water to address skin concerns like the hydro ionized mineral water that promises to offer deep absorption and moisture. They used the hydro ionized mineral water and released these last year.

The Water Bank Hydro Essence aims to drench skin in moisture and help to prevent water loss using seaweed, kale, watercress, and beet along with green mineral water. I love how luxurious this feels on the skin. It’s thicker than other essences; it actually feels like a serum and applies like silk on the skin. This is very hydrating and soothing, especially on cold nights. I like using this before applying a moisturizer as it plumps the skin without the greasy or sticky feeling.

Under the Water Bank series, they have two kinds of moisturizers. The Water Bank Moisture Cream is for normal to dry skin types and it promises to provide skin-deep hydration and strengthen the moisture barrier using green mineral water, brussel sprouts, artichokes, and lima beans soaked in seawater. This is thick but it doesn’t feel clogging. This is what I used when I was on vacation because it hydrated my skin in -4 degree weather.

The Water Bank Hydro Gel, on the other hand, is for oily skin types and works to provide lightweight and cooling hydration using green mineral water, kale, watercress, and beet soaked in seawater. Similar to the Water Bank Hydro Essence, this leaves a silky feeling to the skin. It feels like a creamier version of the Water Sleeping Mask but not as matte as it dries. This plumps and hydrates my skin and is great when applied before the Water Sleeping Mask for additional hydration.

I like to use the Water Bank Hydro Essence and Water Bank Hydro Gel on days when I focus on hydration. This used together with the Water Sleeping Mask they provide hydrated, silky, and plump-looking skin along with the signature Laneige smell that I always enjoy.

Brand Overview: Nuria Rescue Balancing Cleanser, Rescue Pore-Minimizing Toner, and Hydrate Revitalizing Jelly Night Treatment

Vegan and cruelty-free, Nuria offers plant-based skincare products that not only benefit your skin, it also benefits girls’ education. They contribute a portion of sales to She’s the First, a non-profit organization that fights gender inequality through education.

Promising to clear the skin, the Rescue line offers two products. These products do not contain parabens, sulfates, phthalates, formaldehyde, formaldehyde-releasing agents, hydroquinone, mineral oil, coal tar, retinyl palmitate, oxybenzone, triclosan, and triclocarban.

The Rebalancing Cleanser ($26) minimize pores, reduce the appearance of breakouts, and purify the skin using mandarin orange, seaweed extract, loquat extract, and rosehip oil. This gel cleanser is under the runny category. The bottle dispenses a lot of product, which smells citrusy. Two pumps can already cover my face and neck. It lathers easily and feels gentle on the skin. It leaves the skin feeling soft and velvety afterward. It doesn’t feel stripping or tightening and actually feel moisturizing. It doesn’t remove all oil ok your skin while still leaving it cleansed.

The Pore-Minimizing Toner ($24) is an ethanol-free toner aims to minimize the look of pores and make skin more receptive to skin care treatments. It contains witch hazel, horsetail, chamomile, and rosemary to calm and tea tree oil to reduce the appearance of redness and soothe the skin. As soon as you open the bottle, you will instantly smell the tea tree oil. It has a watery texture that sinks in quickly into the skin. Since it’s so fast-absorbing, I like using this in the morning. It also feels refreshing and soothing to the skin so it’s an instant pick-me-up. It also helps that this doesn’t dehydrate or dry out my skin so I don’t get oilier than usual when I use this.

Fortunately, I haven’t gotten any blemishes while I was using these. However, I will experience some bumps here and there and this helped soothe my skin while using more potent products. Both are products that will not dry out the skin but won’t leave it too oily either. I feel like these two would work for those with oily skin types that are acne-prone and sensitive.

The texture and color alone made me want to try the Hydrate Revitalizing Jelly Night Treatment. It literally looks and feels like jelly on the skin.

This aims to hydrate, revitalize, nourish, smooth, and fortify the skin using bilberry, gardenia, spring snowflake, safflower, rosemary, and glycerin.

Putting on the feels really good every single application. The jelly consistency goes well with the cooling sensation it has as you massage it onto the skin. It feels relaxing after a long day. The treatment can feel a bit tacky and can sit on top of the skin longer than most sleeping masks do. The first time I used this I woke up with an oily t-zone so this doesn’t offer enough hydration for my skin. However, it left my skin so very soft the morning after.

Skincare Review: Dr. Roebuck’s Icebergs Hydrating Mask and No Worries Hydrating Face Moisturizer

Inspired by their parents’ original physician formula, Kim and Zoe created a range of clean skincare products and launched their own brands, Dr. Roebuck’s. The products are cruelty-free and are formulated with parabens, sulfates, gluten, fillers, synthetic fragrances, harmful chemicals, and dyes.

They sent two of their products suited for dehydrated skin. One of them is the Icebergs Hydrating Mask ($28), which is meant to be used every other day for the first week and then 2-3 times per week afterward to hydrate the skin. It contains red algae to replenish the skin and enhance the skin barrier’s function, hyaluronic acid to retain moisture and help decrease the appearance of fine lines, and aloe vera to soothe, hydrate, and heal the skin.

Coming in gel texture, this face mask has a cooling effect that lasts until you rinse it. It dries and looks like glue but doesn’t feel tightening or pulling. It’s supposed to be rinsed with water and it can be a bit difficult because of the clear texture. You can’t really see what you’re washing off, you can just feel. This leaves the skin dry and soft. After one use, I can tell that this would be enjoyed by those with #oilyskin because it removes all the excess oil on your face without leaving it tight. This feels really gentle on the skin and after a month of use, I can definitely count on this to hydrate my skin and leave it soft and plump. This is one of the products that surprised me the most because I thought it would be able to bring anything to my skincare table. However, over time, I have come to appreciate the hydrating benefits it provides to my skin.

The other product that they let me try was the No Worries Hydrating Face Moisturizer ($45). The moisturizer promises to help repair damage, soften the appearance of fine lines, and replenish the skin. It contains hyaluronic acid, vitamin e to repair, rosehip oil to brighten, and macadamia oil to regenerate, soften, and soothe the skin.

This has a thick texture that feels moisturizing to the skin. It’s thicker than most moisturizers that I have and leaves a bit of a tacky finish. For my oily skin, I prefer to use this at night, especially right after using strong actives as this provides a soothing sensation and makes me feel like it seals in all the products as I sleep. It works well with my face during colder days because even though it’s thick, it doesn’t feel like it’s blocking my pores. Even when I use this alone, right after cleansing, I wake up with soft and smooth skin after using this, which I really like. I would recommend this to those who like moisturizers that are on the thicker side.

Overall, I am pleased with my #roeglow experience but the Icebergs Hydrating Mask is a clear favorite. This would work great for those with dehydrated skin and even those with sensitive skin as the ingredients are simple and clean.

Skincare Review: Touch In Sol The Mission Complete Waterproof Sensitive Lip and Eye Perfect Cleanser and All-In-One Beauty Aid Cream

As someone who blames kbeauty for getting her into skincare, I have heard of Touch In Sol but never actually got into trying products from the brand. I honestly thought I am not the target market of the product because it is positioned as a trendy brand. However, I’m glad I had the chance.

The Mission Complete Waterproof Sensitive Lip & Eye Perfect Cleanser aims to gently and thoroughly wash away makeup. It has a vegan, gluten-free formula and is made without sulfates, parabens, or phthalates.

This feels creamy once pumped out of the bottle but becomes watery when massaged on the face. I used this to remove eye makeup and got stung a bit in the eye when I opened them slightly. Aside from that, I was able to effectively remove my long-wearing eyeliner, even the transfer underneath my eyes, and my super matte liquid lipstick without drying out my skin or making it feel stripped. My face is just wiped clean with only a few swipes. For me, this is best used with a cotton pad as it removes makeup faster.

The All-In-One Beauty Aid Cream is designed to nourish skin with natural botanicals like olive, walnut, and hazel to moisturize, protect, tone, and refine the skin.

This might be too thick for my face but it’s perfect for my body. I use this on my extremely dry patches, like my arms and legs. It sinks in quickly but leaves my skin incredibly hydrated and moisturized. After three weeks, this has lessened the bumps on my arms.

I’m happy with these two products, especially with the Beauty Aid Cream, as I have noticed an immense difference in my skin’s moisture. As for Mission Complete, I always pull this out when removing eye makeup, I just have to be really careful.

Makeup Review: Erborian CC Creme + Primers Bundle

I have long wanted to try Erborian since I was introduced to the brand via videos from @gothamista. Thankfully Erborian gifted me the CC Creme + Primers Bundle.

This is my first CC cream so I really do not know what to expect. I know it stands for concealing and cover but I was surprised as to how much this concealed and covered.

I currently have a few pigmentations from healed blemishes on my cheeks and that was gone on my first application of the CC Creme. So did my dark circles and texture. I do not use concealer with this at all and I still look flawless.

It comes out gray in the tube which then turns into a skin-like shade once applied on the face. It also has a different slip compared to my foundation. The cream texture sort of feels like it mattifies once it’s applied. It’s just amazing really. I just wish it came with more shades as the shade Caramel is about three shades darker than my skin tone, it also has a yellow undertone that makes me look like I have an intense tan when I overdo my application.

This bundle also came with two primers. The Glow Crème Illuminating Primer has a lightweight and creamy consistency.

I like using this as an illuminator before applying foundation for the glow from within look.

Meanwhile, the Pink Perfect 4-in-1 Primer has the same lightweight consistency as the Glow Crème, but instead of highlighting and illuminating the skin, this one smooths, brightens, and blurs the complexion to minimize the appearance of pores and provide a radiant glow.

This primer gives me a soft-focus look on the skin, which I really like. It feels light and nourishing to the skin but it does a great job masking texture and providing a radiant complexion.
