Cult Favorite: Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara

I used to not be a mascara person. I just felt like I never needed it. I rarely do eye makeup every day but since I started doing my makeup every day, I noticed why people love mascaras so much. They just make the eyes look more awake and the whole look more alive.

Also, most of the mascaras I try go to my under eyes before the day ends. I don’t know how or why but it’s what always happens. Over time, I guessed that I like plastic and rubber brushes more than the bristle brushes.

Recently, however, I got the chance to try the Better Than Sex Mascara from Too Faced and I can’t take it for a drive. Every YouTuber I watched have this in their stash so, there must be something, right?

The Better Than Sex Mascara promises to provided defined and multidimensional lashes with film-forming polymer for smudge-proof, all-day wear.

First off, I really like how black this is. If you’re going for impact, this is worth checking out. It has an hourglass-shaped brush with extra stiff bristles and application is easy even if the brush is bigger and longer than most mascaras I’m used to. One coat leaves my lashes looking longer. I also look like I have more lashes than I really do. Two coats give me clumpy, spidery lashes, which is a look. I stick to one coat because I usually just go for a natural makeup look. This lasts the whole day but this smudges my undereyes so, I always need to check my makeup when I was using this.

I’d like to stick with plastic and rubber bristles for now.

Makeup Review: Kosas Weightless Lip Color, Vegas

I love Kosas. The Weightless Lip Color was the first product I bought from them. Even before when the brand has sent me all of the shades, I already have most of them. That’s how much I love the Weightless Lip Color.

Nevertheless, I thought it was incredibly brave of them to release one (yes, just one) new additional shade. And it’s nude. However, Kosas knocks it out again because this nude is just right for my skin tone.

Some nudes make me look sick or are too dark for me. Vegas doesn’t provide the deep peachy tone I saw on the models in their site. This looks lighter for my skin but I like how it doesn’t have a pink undertone, which is what most of my nude lip colors have. This is more on the beige side of the spectrum, which goes well when I go for bright cheeks during the day or a colorful or deep eye look at night.

As for the application, it offers the same smooth and even application from the soft and buttery texture of the Weightless Lip Color due to the butter and oil it contains. It feels equally hydrating. However, I feel like Vegas looks like it has more sheen than the other shades. I don’t have a problem with it as it provides dimension to my beige lips but it is worth noting. I still love it, though. I have been wearing Vegas since I got it. I also love the white packaging, which is something new for the Weightless Lip Color. I can’t wait to have more white packaging from Kosas.

Makeup Review: Cle Cosmetics Essence Moonlighter Cushion in Glinting Buff and Apricot Tinge

Been loving the slightly dewy look as of late and one of the things I’ve been using recently is the Essence Moonlighter Cushion from Cle Cosmetics.

This cushion highlighter uses pearl powder for a subtle luminous sheen. It also has bergamot, orange, and ylang-ylang essential oils for scent. It’s also vegan, cruelty-free, and are formulated without parabens, phthalates, and gluten.

The shade Glinting Buff is something I have already used before. It has a gold tinge to it while the Apricot Tinge is peachy. Apricot Tinge leans more silver in my skin tone while Glinting Buff looks more natural on my skin.

This highlighter cushion is luminous. Since I have used this before, I know more now in terms of application. One press using the puff applicator is enough to cover my cheekbones. The highlighter itself has a cooling sensation on the skin, which I like, and it applies smoothly on the skin. If I want more shine, this can also be built up. It can also be blended with my other cream highlighters if I want to amp up my look. For precise application, especially if you want to use this on the nose and eyelids, a dense brush would be your best bet. For me, however, I use this when I have an unexpected night out. I keep this on my makeup bag for those kinds of emergencies. Since it’s in a compact, this is easy to bring around.

Cult Favorite: Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40, Defense Refresh (Re)setting Mist SPF 40, PLAY Everyday Lotion SPF 50 with Sunflower Extract

I’m trying to be really diligent when it comes to applying and reapplying sunscreen and Supergoop is really helping me with that.

I got a restock of the Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40, which I like using on my face. It has an oil-free formula but the gel texture of this SPF surprisingly feels oily. I like using it when I want a dewy finish to my look. It blends well with my hydrating foundation and it doesn’t leave a white cast.

If I want to reapply, the travel-size version of the Defense Refresh (Re)setting Mist SPF 40, which comes in a liquid formula, comes in handy. It has a spray nozzle, making reapplication easy. I like how light it feels and it made me not forget reapplying every two hours.

For the rest of my body, I have been using the PLAY Everyday Lotion SPF 50 with Sunflower Extract. I easily get warm, which makes me sweat a lot so the water and sweat resistant of this sunscreen is really a plus.

Makeup Review: BareMinerals Mineralist Hydra-Smoothing Lipstick

The Mineralist Hydra-Smoothing Lipstick from BareMinerals is a vegan lipstick that promises hydration, nourishment, and pigmentation while smoothing and softening the lips using european sea buckthorn fruit oil, mediterranean olive oil, moroccan pomegranate extract, and jojoba oil. It’s also formulated without parabens, phthalates, mineral oil, and synthetic fragrance. They have 25 shades from nude to reds to cater to a variety of skin tones.

They sent me the entire collection, all 25 shades, which I’m really thankful for. Not only that I got to try the shades, I finally found the right brown for me (something with a pink or peach tone) and I also knew how nude I can go (apparently lighter than I thought I would).

The lipsticks have a fragrant scent. The actual product is very pigmented but it applies almost like a balm would – soft and smooth. Due to the texture and finish, this doesn’t last long. However, applying these feel like just applying a lip balm, only with the color payoff of a lipstick. They don’t emphasize the lines of the lips and my lips felt soft and smooth after use. It’s indeed hydrating than most lipsticks.

I have been constantly reaching for the shades Presence (antique mauve), Memory (neutral rose), Grace (nude pink), and Focus (muted mauve) for every day while Fortitude (plum berry) and Intuition (brick red) is what I’ve been using for nights out.
