Makeup Review: Paul & Joe Beaute Lipstick N Natural and Full Coverage

We all know how cute Paul & Joe Beaute products are. It’s just that I didn’t know how cute they can get until I got their Lipsticks and Lipstick Cases.

First off, the Lipstick Case CS is made from structured paper with beautiful prints. I got one inspired by the french rose garden (047) and two with cats (004 and 045) on them. Cats!

As for the actual product, the Lipstick N Natural creates a dewy shine while moisturizing the lips. It contains jojoba oil, lilium bulb extract, macadamia seed oil, orange flower water, orange oil, and shea butter.

I have the shade Fruit Rouge (213), a ripe red berry that is deep enough to use at night, and Flower Vase (207), a bright pink-red if you want something bolder during the day without the shock of an orange-red.

The Lipstick N Full Coverage aims to provide full coverage to the lips while leaving it moist and nourished. It has the same oils as the Natural variant. I have the shade Biscuit Sucre (308), a nude pink that appears neutral nude on my lips. I mostly use this as a base if I’m going fo a gradient lip.

All lipsticks have their shiny gloss without the stickiness. They feel like lightweight balms that provide more color payoff. At least most that tinted lip balms. They don’t offer the coverage a liquid lipstick but these lipsticks are pigmented enough that it only takes a couple of swipes to get color. These are the lipsticks I use if I’m rushing out. Since this doesn’t apply matte, precision isn’t necessary for these to look good on my lips. I can use this even if I’m not looking at a mirror and it would still look good.

Makeup Review: By Terry Starlight Rose Collection

I did not include the Starlight Rose Glow Booster CC Serum from By Terry in my 2019 makeup favorites because I got to try it so late into the year. However, I have been using it since 2020 started to give my fave a subtle yet healthy glow.

This primer brightens while hydrating the skin using rosehip butter, moonstone extract, and gemstone pearls. It looks creamy from the bottle but it applies lightly to the skin, providing a thin almost unnoticeable canvas before the foundation.

For my oily skin, I apply a mattifying primer before putting six little dots of this all over my face. I then buff this with my stick foundation. It brightens my skin and doesn’t leave too matte. It just makes me look like I had eight hours of sleep like I only eat fruits and vegetables. That’s how healthy this makes me look. If I want a little bit more glow, I also put this on the high points of my face and my lids after applying foundation.

To really up the ante, I use the Starlight Rose CC Powder on my lids and on my cheekbones. This illuminating powder has that provides a lot of shimmers. This is not for the faint of heart, not for those with a lot of texture either. I have on my cheeks so I really have to be careful when applying this. However, if I’m looking for impact, this is what I really go for.

For a big day, I use the Starlight Rose Baume de Rose Flaconnette Liquid Lip Balm before applying my makeup.

It contains rose blossom essential wax, shea butter, vitamin e, ceramides, and hyaluronic acid microspheres to combat dryness and strengthen, protect, and hydrate the lips. I have been using this before applying matte lipsticks to protect my lips and keep it from drying.

Brand Overview: My Mood

I’m a sucker for cute packaging. That’s how I came across My Mood. Founded by Thea Green, the brains behind Nails Inc and Incredible Cosmetics, My Mood is the adorable little sister filled with cute things you take to sleep, to bed, and to school.

They offer bath bolts – the Muscle Hustler Bath Bolt to chill with sage, rosemary, and seaweed and the Get Up Show Up Bath Bolt to wake up with scents of cardamom, black pepper, and sandalwood. For those running low on mental and physical health come Friday, the I’m Like 104% Tired Just Chill Bath Bolt is a good treat to relax, containing lavender and orange peel.

To top that off, the I’m Like 104% Tired Switch Off Sleep Spray can be a nightstand buddy. It’s a gentle, calming essential oil spray that mixes lavender, poppyseed, and valerian to fight away nervous vibes and alleviate tension, to help you relax. Just spray on some of the oil before bedtime, to get the full effect. My first impression was that it smelled like massage oil, which was perfect for relaxing after a busy day. The sweet lavender scent was nice, but it didn’t last too long. The light scent of the spray was too light to leave a lasting effect and seemed to fade away after a few minutes. Maybe those with a preference for softer fragrance notes would enjoy this, but those who want a stronger scent may find it too mild to be effective.

For the lips, the Smoothing On Jelly Lip Balm I’m Shook PH Pink feels moisturizing and hydrating on the lips. It has pinkish tint that looks so natural.

The Smoothing On Jelly Lip Balm I Eat Rainbows For Breakfast Glittery Pink has a pinkish-red tint when applied on the lips.

The Smile Everyday Smoothing Lip Balm Hustle On Iridescent, on the other hand, smells like candy and offer a light sheen to the lips.

I like putting this on top of matte lip colors to add some shine. I love that they all don’t feel heavy on the lips but I wish they were more moisturizing.

Selfcare Review: Provision Scents Dream Extract Room and Linen Spray, Connection Lip Rescue, Manifest Body Oil

What selfcare routine do you do before sleeping? The past month, I have been playing with these cute trial-sized goodies from Provision Scents before getting some zzz’s

After doing my face routine, I spray the Dream Extract Room & Linen Spray ($9.60), which is infused with french clary, Italian bergamot, sheer woods, and amber. I like how this gives off a strong yet soothing smell. It really does seem to invite dreams before dozing off.

I apply the Connection Lip Rescue ($44) as I watch a show, which is most recently Crash Landing On You. This contains shea butter, avocado oil, vitamin e, and rose wax to moisturize, soften and condition the lips. This #lipbalm can also be used to moisturize your cuticles and other drier parts of your body if you prefer. This balm has a citrusy floral scent and a little goes a long way. It feels a bit thick but it did soften and moisturize my lips after waking up.

As the last step, I use the Manifest Body Oil, which has a blend of amla, avocado, and almond oils with shea butter to soften and condition the skin. I usually prefer body oils over body creams. This one has a candle-like scent and feels thick on the skin. Due to the thick consistency of this oil, I only apply this on my foot, elbows, and knees. So far, this has helped moisturize those parts of my body.

Makeup Review: Kosas Wet Lip Oil Gloss

As a 90s kid, my preference for matte lip colors is just innate. I treat lip glosses as a product you use when you want to have a little fun or when you want to be a little extra.

So, when I saw Kosas recently launches their Wet Lip Oil Gloss about a month ago, I found it cute. When I got the package, I decided to seriously give glosses a try. That’s how me, a matte lip believer ended up bring five lipglosses to my vacation.

During the first few days was a struggle, to be honest. The hybrid lip treatment applied like a gloss, with a bit of heaviness to it. It left my lips feeling sticky and I have to reapply more frequently, which are pain points for me but I don’t have to retouch every hour, which is what I do with other lip glosses.

The wet lip look is what really got me hooked. This left my lips looking fresh and cute, my whole fave jollier and more youthful. The moisturizing benefit, with the gloss containing hyaluronic acid, peptides, and evening primrose oil, also greatly helped with me enjoying this, especially on a -15 degree weather. My lips were never chapped or dry. The color payoff is also commendable as with a few swipes, it was able to provide an even color to my uneven-colored lips.

I use Jelly Fish (clear) as a topper if I want my matte lip colors to have an extra sheen and Bikini Nude (nude) when I want to highlight my nude lipstick. Malibu (pink), Jaws (blood red), and Fruit Juice (magenta) when I want a one-and-done shiny color on my lips. I reach for Jelly Fish and Fruit Juice the most because I just love how it looks on me.

I still prefer the Weightless Lip Color but the Wet Lip Oil Gloss is its fun and moisturizing cousin you just can’t easily ignore, especially on a fun night.
