Bodycare Review: Lather Celebration Bamboo Scrub

Since I have a lot more time this holiday season, I’ve been focusing on self-care. One of the things I like to do is have a bath and light a candle at night.

The Limited-Edition Celebration Bamboo Scrub from Lather smells like a quiet celebration. It has hints of chai spices, ginger, and cinnamon that makes you smile and vanilla and cardamom that sort of subdues and sweetens the party. It smooths and soothes the skin. I like using this on my arms, legs, and feet because the large scrubs really massages the overworked skin on those parts. It contains bamboo, coconut powder, turmeric, and neem leaf extract that helps leave the skin feeling refreshed, smooth, and soft. This product is cruelty-free, vegan, and is also made without parabens, sulfates, mineral oil, and synthetic fragrance and colors.

For a feel of a warm hug, while exfoliating, I light up the Let’s Celebrate soy wax candle. This heightens the smell of cardamom, ginger, cinnamon leaf, and vanilla and makes me feel calm yet happy. I like the tin-like packaging because it’s small and can be placed anywhere in my bathroom without worrying about slips and breaking. This candle is also cruelty-free and is made without parabens, sulfates, mineral oil, synthetic fragrance, artificial color, and paraffin.

Since these products are created in time for Lather’s 20th Anniversary, they will donate $1 for every Celebration Bamboo Scrub sold to The Sundara Fund. They aim to help women in India out of poverty and educate the community on hygiene.

Cult Favorite: Youth to the People Kombucha + 11% AHA Exfoliation Power Toner

I’m late into the YTTP train but I’m going to talk about their products anyway. And, yes, like many others who came before me, this post is a profession of love.

What really surprised me is the Kombucha + 11% AHA Exfoliation Power Toner ($38). It’s a vegan exfoliating toner that promises to minimize the appearance of pores, smooth skin texture, and firm the look of the skin using kombucha black tea ferment, tree bark ferment, ginger, lactic acid, glycolic acid, citrus bioflavonoids, and lemon water extract. Unlike the cleanser, this is a sting surprise. Since my skin is not sensitive, I didn’t experience any redness or irritation. I use this three times a week and have noticed how it improved my overall skin health. Compared to other AHA toners that I have, I feel like this offered quicker results. My skin looks plump, firm, and smooth and it feels as good as it looks. So good I’ve gotten compliments.

My first foray into Youth to the People and I’m in love. They are simple, effective, and nice to look at. They are also cruelty-free and vegan.
