Skincare Review: Hanskin Real Complexion Hyaluron Skin Essence, Hyaluron Moisture Mask, and Hyaluron Moisture Cream

I have always admired how K-Beauty brands focus on gentle nourishment and hydration in their skincare. Since both benefits have been my focus since last year, I can’t not try the Hyaluron Collection of Hanskin.

Promising to moisturize and hydrate, the Real Complexion Hyaluron Skin Essence acts as a toner, essence, and moisturizing lotion all in one. Using bio hyaluronate and hyaluronic acid and zostera marina extract. This feels thick at first but it gets lighter when applied on the skin. It sinks in quickly into the skin. It immediately plumps the giving a non-greasy dewy look even after a long day.

The Hyaluron Moisture Mask aims to moisturize, brighten, soothe, and leave the skin glowing with hyaluronic acid, strawberry, raspberry, and french rose water. It also uses a microfiber sheet, thinner than 1/100 of the thickness of a human hair, which claims to retain and hold moisture five times more than cotton fabric. The pink-colored mask is a cute surprise, the essence also has a sweet smell. It fits perfectly, like most korean masks, and I didn’t have a hard time putting it on my face. It leaves the skin feeling hydrated and fresh. It would be a great addition to your routine if you’re looking for extra hydration.

As the last step, the Hyaluron Moisture Cream targets dry or dull skin and promises to leave the skin plump, nourished and moisturized using hyaluronic acid.

This has a watery gel-like formula that feels lightweight on the skin. It doesn’t feel tacky and delivers good hydration as well. I use this day and night, especially when I feel like my skin is dry and dehydrated to leave it smooth and plumper.

The Hyaluron Collection would be great for those who are looking to plump and hydrate their skin. All products are nourishing and gentle so they also work well with exfoliants and acids. The Real Complexion Hyaluron Skin Essence is something I would surely use whatever the season while the Hyaluron Moisture Mask and Hyaluron Moisture Cream are something that would suit my oily skin when it’s cold and dry.

Skincare Review: Laneige Water Bank Hydro Essence, Water Bank Moisture Cream, and Water Bank Hydro Gel

I’ve said this many times over but I have a special spot for Laneige. It’s one of the first brands I tried when I got into skincare and I still have the Water Sleeping Mask in my stash even until now. What I like about the brand is how they use water to address skin concerns like the hydro ionized mineral water that promises to offer deep absorption and moisture. They used the hydro ionized mineral water and released these last year.

The Water Bank Hydro Essence aims to drench skin in moisture and help to prevent water loss using seaweed, kale, watercress, and beet along with green mineral water. I love how luxurious this feels on the skin. It’s thicker than other essences; it actually feels like a serum and applies like silk on the skin. This is very hydrating and soothing, especially on cold nights. I like using this before applying a moisturizer as it plumps the skin without the greasy or sticky feeling.

Under the Water Bank series, they have two kinds of moisturizers. The Water Bank Moisture Cream is for normal to dry skin types and it promises to provide skin-deep hydration and strengthen the moisture barrier using green mineral water, brussel sprouts, artichokes, and lima beans soaked in seawater. This is thick but it doesn’t feel clogging. This is what I used when I was on vacation because it hydrated my skin in -4 degree weather.

The Water Bank Hydro Gel, on the other hand, is for oily skin types and works to provide lightweight and cooling hydration using green mineral water, kale, watercress, and beet soaked in seawater. Similar to the Water Bank Hydro Essence, this leaves a silky feeling to the skin. It feels like a creamier version of the Water Sleeping Mask but not as matte as it dries. This plumps and hydrates my skin and is great when applied before the Water Sleeping Mask for additional hydration.

I like to use the Water Bank Hydro Essence and Water Bank Hydro Gel on days when I focus on hydration. This used together with the Water Sleeping Mask they provide hydrated, silky, and plump-looking skin along with the signature Laneige smell that I always enjoy.

Skincare Review: Then I Met You The Skin Balancing Duo

I’ve always described Then I Met You products as thoughtful and nourishing. The Skin Balancing Duo, their newest offerings, are no different.

Promising to be hydrating and exfoliating, the Birch Milk Refining Toner using birch juice, marshmallow root, squalene, glycolic and lactic acids, and gluconolactone.

The watery toner is something you would have expected if you have tried other Then I Met You products – gentle and nourishing. It’s good for daily use and it leaves the skin hydrated and soothed after application. As for exfoliating, it’s not as quick nor as harsh as the other exfoliating toners in the market but it gets the job done. This would work for those with sensitive skin. For me, I like it as a hydrating toner that offers additional brightening benefits while nourishing my skin.

I have developed my love for essences when I got into K-Beauty. They just help plump and nourish my skin without the thickness of moisturizers that offer the same promises. A new addition to my stash is The Giving Essence, which aims to hydrate and brighten the skin while providing antioxidants using black chokeberry, galactomyces, ellagic acid, red algae, and polyglutamic acid.

Similar to most essences, this is watery with a bit of weight to it. The essences has a bit of tackiness but it sinks in quickly to the skin and leaves it looking and feeling plump and soft. It’s, of course, nourishing and hydrating to the skin. It does help brighten the skin a bit and this, conjunction with the toner, just provides a soothing and calming feeling to the skin.

I have long believed that there are no products suited for all skin types but Then I Met You made me eat my words. Their vegan and cruelty-free products help hydrate my oily skin without any tackiness nor does it leave my skin begging for more. Their products are just right when you need nourishment and hydration. If you are looking to protect you skin and improve its overall health, these products are for you.

The Then I Met You The Skin Balancing Duo was provided by @thenimetyou. Available as a set for $78 or individually (toner for $32 and essence for $50) at thenimetyou.com

Cult Favorite: Sulwhasoo First Care Activating Serum EX

The First Care Activating Serum EX that #Sulwhasoogiftedme is actually a back-up. I’m about to finish my second bottle so, you know how much I like using this.

They call this a serum but it’s meant to be applied right after cleansing to boost the effects of the products you use after it, which to me honestly sounds like an essence. It uses the JAUM Balancing Complex, a blend of botanicals selected from over 3,000 traditional Korean herbs to restore, replenish moisture, hydrate, and balance the skin. Though this contains alcohol, which I don’t really mind but is worth noting, I still like it.

It has a serum-like consistency and since I’m a rebel, I would mostly use this right after a hydrating toner and a light essence. It has a light gel texture that feels lightweight enough on the skin even though there is a bit of an oily feeling to it. It also has a strong herbal scent though it doesn’t linger. It would only take a pump and a half to cover my face and the serum would sink in without leaving a tacky feeling on my skin.

The first few weeks I used this, I didn’t really notice anything save for it leaving my face plump and soft, a feeling not exclusive to this product. However, after not using it for a week, my skin missed it. I also noticed that my face fell back to looking tired and sallow in the middle of the week, no matter how careful I was in terms of hydrating and moisturizing. That’s when I realized how this helped in maintaining a radiant glow to my skin, even without makeup, and also leaving it soft and bouncy. Those things might not sound hardworking but for someone in her 30s who can easily look tired the morning after she spends two more hours past her bedtime, it’s a big deal.

Is this product extra? Yes, definitely. However, I purchased and repurchased this serum because I like how it makes my oily skin feel and look.
