Skincare Review: Colorescience Sunforgettable® Total Protection™ Face Shield SPF 50 and Brush-On Shield SPF 50

Today’s SPF Spotlight goes to Colorescience SPF products I have been using the past couple of months. Their products use the EnviroScreen® Technology, which has an exclusive blend of ingredients and patented sunscreen actives that aim to create a protective barrier on the skin, preventing free radical formation and oxidative stress.

The Sunforgettable® Total Protection™ Face Shield SPF 50 ($39) promises to provide complete protection against UVA/UVB, pollution, blue light, and infrared radiation with Broad Spectrum SPF 50/PA+++ in an oil-free formula that’s water and sweat resistant for 40 minutes.

Its consistency looks light and watery but it applies creamy on the skin that feels lightweight. Like a typical liquid SPF but in a lighter consistency. It has a slight white cast that I was able to diffuse by thoroughly massaging it on my face but those with darker skin tones than I am might have more difficulty. For my #oilyskin, I feel like I could only wear this when it’s not too humid as I tend to sweat a lot and get too greasy territory by noon.

My favorite SPF reapplicator is the Sunforgettable® Total Protection™ Brush-On Shield SPF 50 ($65). It provides Broad Spectrum SPF 50/PA++++ and the same protection of the Face Shield but in powder form.

I wish the brush feels a bit rough and uneven on the skin so I only use it when I reapply. In the mornings, what I like to do is pour the powder in a flat surface and use a powder brush to apply it. I can use this to set my makeup and the shades I have, medium and tan, suits my skin tone properly. The powder is finely milled so it covers the skin evenly. It also applies matte and it doesn’t leave a powdery look so, I have the one in my makeup bag so I can easily reapply after every couple of hours.
