Skincare Review: Tony Moly Moisture Boost Gel To Water Morning Cleanser, Cooling Hydrogel Eye Patches, and Cooling Algae Eye Serum

With very light and gentle products, the Moisture Boost products from Tony Moly works great for days spent at home, without the stress of sunlight, pollution and the other elements.

I start the day with the Moisture Boost Gel To Water Morning Cleanser, which leaves my skin fresh and hydrated, without stripping off the natural oils. It contains 5 types of centella asiatica, panthenol, ceramide complex, AHA, BHA, and PHA.

Being very lightweight, it’s a good addition to the morning routine for those who prefer a gentle cleansing gel.

At night, I use either the Moisture Boost Cooling Hydrogel Eye Patches and Moisture Boost Cooling Algae Eye Serum, which both promise hydrating and depuffing effects for the eyes.

The serum, which uses hyaluronic acid, plankton extract, and seawater, has a cooling effect on the skin around my eyes but doesn’t do much besides that. I prefer the eye patches, which not only make my skin feel refreshed. It’s made with spirulina extract, plankton extract, and seawater to hydrate and soothe the eye area. They are hydrating for my dry under eyes and they make me look more alive.

Skincare Review: Good Molecules Clarify & Cleanse Bar and Caffeine Energizing Hydrogel Eye Patches

Working from home now allows me to do a longer skincare routine. Featuring this morning’s routine feature these new vegan and cruelty-free drops from Good Molecules.

The Clarify & Cleanse Bar claims to be a gentle soap-free cleansing bar that clarifies and detoxifies the using salicylic acid, kaolin clay, rosehip oil, and grapeseed oil. This cleansing bar instantly makes a foam. As with most soaps, it was also easy to rinse off my face. It left my skin feeling soft, refreshed, and clean. The only con I could think of is that dissolves easily.

The Caffeine Energizing Hydrogel Eye Patches contains caffeine, acetyl tetrapeptide-5, niacinamide, and hyaluronic acid to brighten, hydrate, and reduce puffiness around the eyes in just 10 minutes. As with most eye patches, this is relaxing and soothing to the skin. I like using this while I work because it feels so hydrating and relaxing. I have yet to see it’s brightening benefits but this definitely de-puffs the eye area.

Skincare Review: Georgette Klinger Honey Cleansing Gel and Charcoal Drying Lotion

A few months back, Georgette Klinger sent me these products to try.

The Honey Cleansing Gel ($24) promises to cleanse, soothe, and detoxify the skin using honeysuckle extract, chamomile extract, and marula oil. Following the name of this cleanser, it smells and feels like honey upon application. It was weird, yes, like a sticky serum but for cleansing. I prefer my cleansing to be in a foam form and I want them lightweight. I also want them to not leave a film after cleanser so I didn’t reach for this often.

I rarely get blemishes but I do get them. When I do, I need something to quickly zap and heal them. I used the Charcoal Drying Lotion ($19), which is an overnight spot treatment that unclogs pores and treats inflammation and irritation using salicylic acid, activated charcoal, zinc oxide, sulfur, camphor, calamine, and white willow bark.

With my fair share of drying lotion experiences, I expected this product to deliver fast and best results. The formula was what got me pumped up because I know for sure what charcoal can do to my oily skin. The smell was strong but bearable. The texture is just like any other drying lotion. There was a mild throbbing tingle when I first swabbed this on my skin. I found that this works best when the blemish isn’t in its full form yet. It takes about three days for this to flatten inflammation and redness. For full-blown zits, and acne patch after applying this would best help quicken healing.

Cult Favorites: Allies of Skin Molecular Silk Amino Hydrating Cleanser, 35% Vitamin C Collagen Rebuilding Serum, and Peptides and Antioxidants Firming Daily Treatment

Since I love sleep over anything else, my morning routine has to be quick. After showering, I usually just apply a serum, sunscreen, and then proceed with makeup.

Recently, I’ve been using these products from Allies of Skin – focusing on hydrating, brightening, and just keeping my skin healthy in the morning and the results are really something.

To cleanse while nourishing and hydrating the skin, the Molecular Silk Amino Hydrating Cleanser ($38) uses hyaluronic acid, silk amino acids, safflower oil, moringa oil, ethylated l-ascorbic acid, white tea, lecithin phospholipids, and lactic acid. The runny gel of this cleanser consistency feels gentle on the skin. I use this as a second cleanser and it emulsifies to a milky consistency. It also feels refreshing on the skin. It cleanses the skin without stripping it or leaving a film but my skin is still left soft and moisturized.

The 35% Vitamin C Collagen Rebuilding Serum claims to be the world’s first and only waterless formula with a 35% vitamin c concentration. It also contains superoxide dismutase and glutathione to provide antioxidants while repairing, brightening, and firming the skin. The texture and consistency of this serum are on the oily side, which scared me at first because this is suggested to be used in the morning. My skin, as good a condition it is in now, would look like a greased pan if I use an oily makeup or skincare product. However, this didn’t make my skin oily at all. It dries into a silky texture but it sinks in beautifully in my skin and actually makes my makeup look so good. Like I have plump and soft skin. Deeper results would be brightening and the smoothness. After daily use for almost a month, this made me look radiant and healthy.

Meanwhile, the Peptides & Antioxidants Firming Daily Treatment ($109) uses 7 brighteners, 9 antioxidants, and a 16.5% repair complex to boost collagen production while firming and providing radiance to the skin. This feels like a light moisturizer but it sinks in like a serum would – quick and matte. It feels hydrating and nourishing on the skin and it works so well under my makeup and SPF. It makes my skin look plump and soft. Also, this makes my makeup look so good. Like I spent an hour doing my base instead of 10.

After about a month of using these products, I can say that the 35% Vitamin C Collagen Rebuilding Serum and the Peptides & Antioxidants Firming Daily Treatment are my favorites. They have been part of my morning routine and have made my skin look healthy, bright, and radiant. They also feel light, hydrating, and nourishing, which my oily skin really needs.

Skincare Review: Iope Moist Cleansing Whipping Foam, Stem III Ampoule, and Derma Gentle Cica Cream

I am a late Iope adaptor. The k-beauty brand focuses on creating skincare and makeup products based on research and even though I discovered them late, I’m glad I did.

Using fermented water hyacinth flower extract, konjac beads, and papain enzyme, the Moist Cleansing Whipping Foam to clean, refresh, and hydrate the skin.

As someone who has a foaming cleanser bias, this is one of the best I’ve tried. It lathers thickly but rinses without leaving any dirt and oil. It has beads that feel soft and it melts as I massage the cleanser on my skin. With the texture of the cleanser, it would usually result in really dry skin after rinsing but this just leaves the skin feeling plump and soft.

The Stem III Ampoule promises to plump, strengthen, and revitalize the complexion using allantoin, spiraeoside, and peptides.

This ampoule feels a bit heavy but it feels nourishing on the skin. It also plumps and helps firm, which I noticed after about a month of use. I especially like using this after using acids and exfoliating.

To soothe, comfort, and help relieve irritated skin, the Derma Gentle Cica Cream uses madecassoside, panthenol, and cypress tree extracts.

A couple of months ago, my face has been at its most sensitive recently and this moisturizer helped make it better. It’s gentle, creamy yet non-greasy, and smooth to apply all over the face. It also feels lightweight and is quickly absorbed by the skin. I also love how it’s fragrance-free and how I don’t get oily with it. The cream feels really soothing and moisturizing on the skin. I could feel my face getting smoother and softer after applying the cream all over my face.
