Brand Overview: Nuria Rescue Balancing Cleanser, Rescue Pore-Minimizing Toner, and Hydrate Revitalizing Jelly Night Treatment

Vegan and cruelty-free, Nuria offers plant-based skincare products that not only benefit your skin, it also benefits girls’ education. They contribute a portion of sales to She’s the First, a non-profit organization that fights gender inequality through education.

Promising to clear the skin, the Rescue line offers two products. These products do not contain parabens, sulfates, phthalates, formaldehyde, formaldehyde-releasing agents, hydroquinone, mineral oil, coal tar, retinyl palmitate, oxybenzone, triclosan, and triclocarban.

The Rebalancing Cleanser ($26) minimize pores, reduce the appearance of breakouts, and purify the skin using mandarin orange, seaweed extract, loquat extract, and rosehip oil. This gel cleanser is under the runny category. The bottle dispenses a lot of product, which smells citrusy. Two pumps can already cover my face and neck. It lathers easily and feels gentle on the skin. It leaves the skin feeling soft and velvety afterward. It doesn’t feel stripping or tightening and actually feel moisturizing. It doesn’t remove all oil ok your skin while still leaving it cleansed.

The Pore-Minimizing Toner ($24) is an ethanol-free toner aims to minimize the look of pores and make skin more receptive to skin care treatments. It contains witch hazel, horsetail, chamomile, and rosemary to calm and tea tree oil to reduce the appearance of redness and soothe the skin. As soon as you open the bottle, you will instantly smell the tea tree oil. It has a watery texture that sinks in quickly into the skin. Since it’s so fast-absorbing, I like using this in the morning. It also feels refreshing and soothing to the skin so it’s an instant pick-me-up. It also helps that this doesn’t dehydrate or dry out my skin so I don’t get oilier than usual when I use this.

Fortunately, I haven’t gotten any blemishes while I was using these. However, I will experience some bumps here and there and this helped soothe my skin while using more potent products. Both are products that will not dry out the skin but won’t leave it too oily either. I feel like these two would work for those with oily skin types that are acne-prone and sensitive.

The texture and color alone made me want to try the Hydrate Revitalizing Jelly Night Treatment. It literally looks and feels like jelly on the skin.

This aims to hydrate, revitalize, nourish, smooth, and fortify the skin using bilberry, gardenia, spring snowflake, safflower, rosemary, and glycerin.

Putting on the feels really good every single application. The jelly consistency goes well with the cooling sensation it has as you massage it onto the skin. It feels relaxing after a long day. The treatment can feel a bit tacky and can sit on top of the skin longer than most sleeping masks do. The first time I used this I woke up with an oily t-zone so this doesn’t offer enough hydration for my skin. However, it left my skin so very soft the morning after.

Skincare Review: Touch In Sol The Mission Complete Waterproof Sensitive Lip and Eye Perfect Cleanser and All-In-One Beauty Aid Cream

As someone who blames kbeauty for getting her into skincare, I have heard of Touch In Sol but never actually got into trying products from the brand. I honestly thought I am not the target market of the product because it is positioned as a trendy brand. However, I’m glad I had the chance.

The Mission Complete Waterproof Sensitive Lip & Eye Perfect Cleanser aims to gently and thoroughly wash away makeup. It has a vegan, gluten-free formula and is made without sulfates, parabens, or phthalates.

This feels creamy once pumped out of the bottle but becomes watery when massaged on the face. I used this to remove eye makeup and got stung a bit in the eye when I opened them slightly. Aside from that, I was able to effectively remove my long-wearing eyeliner, even the transfer underneath my eyes, and my super matte liquid lipstick without drying out my skin or making it feel stripped. My face is just wiped clean with only a few swipes. For me, this is best used with a cotton pad as it removes makeup faster.

The All-In-One Beauty Aid Cream is designed to nourish skin with natural botanicals like olive, walnut, and hazel to moisturize, protect, tone, and refine the skin.

This might be too thick for my face but it’s perfect for my body. I use this on my extremely dry patches, like my arms and legs. It sinks in quickly but leaves my skin incredibly hydrated and moisturized. After three weeks, this has lessened the bumps on my arms.

I’m happy with these two products, especially with the Beauty Aid Cream, as I have noticed an immense difference in my skin’s moisture. As for Mission Complete, I always pull this out when removing eye makeup, I just have to be really careful.

Skincare Review: Troiareuke Oil Cut Cleansing, TOC Toner, AC Spot Solution

I was fortunate enough to have managed blemishes. I rarely get one anymore. However, when I came back from vacation, my skin reacted to the rise in temperature and humidity. I slept having no blemishes and woke up with three out of nowhere. What’s worse, two of them are whiteheads – something I never had since grade school.

I was pissed. However, this was the perfect time to test some products from the ACSEN line from Troiareuke. This line is for those with acne-prone and sensitive skin.

The Oil Cut Cleansing promises to be an all in one cleanser that removes oil, dirt, and impurities as it soothe and hydrate the skin using lichen extract, zanthoxylum piperitum fruit extract, pulsatilla koreana extract, aloe barbadensis leaf juice, papaya fruit water, portulaca oleracea extract. This cleansing gel removes oil and impurities and leaves the skin feeling fresh and smooth. It doesn’t completely strip the skin, which would when your skin is feeling sensitive or irritated. As a preference, I still use a foaming cleanser after this.

To balance and build the skin’s protective barrier, the TOC Toner contains glycolic acid, centella asiatica extract, hyaluronic acid tocopheryl acetate, allantoin, glycerin, portulaca oleracea extract, betula platyphylla japonica juice, argania spinosa kernel oil, zea mays oil, rosewood wood oil, calendula officinalis flower oil, and geranium maculatum oil. It also promises to soothe, renew, and moisturize the skin while removing excess sebum and dead skin cell buildup. This has a very water-like texture but it somehow leaves my skin nourished and hydrated. It’s gentle on the skin as well. This is the only toner I used during the time that I had pimples and it helped soothe and hydrate my skin after I apply detoxifying masks and treatment products.

My favorite, the AC Spot Solution, to treat blemishes. It contains selemix an, phenyl salicylate, and centella asiatica to speed healing, help prevent scarring, and prevent future blemishes. This flattened up and coming blemishes overnight. For full-on zits, it takes about three nights to heal. I’m amazed as to how quick this is and how gentle it was on my skin. Most solutions tend to dry the skin and stimulate peeling but I didn’t experience that with this one. It doesn’t even sting. However, in terms of scar prevention, I still got post-blemish pigmentation but I’m fine with it, I have other products for that.

I would definitely recommend these products to those who have blemishes and want something gentle yet effective for their skin concerns. The main highlight for me is the AC Spot Solution because of how quick and gentle it zapped my blemishes.

Skincare Review: Hanskin Pore Cleansing Balm (BHA) and Pore Cleansing Oil (BHA)

As someone who simply used a cleansing foam and called it skincare, the discovery of cleansing oils and cleansing balms when I was in Korea is almost as good as discovering that the baker of your favorite chocolate cake is your neighbor.

So, no matter how many cleansing balms and cleansing oils I own, I always welcome trying another first cleanser, especially from a brand that’s I’ve heard when I first got into skincare.

Hanskin offers cleansing products suitable for your skin type, which intrigued me. Most brands only offer one variant. They sent me the Pore Cleansing Balm (BHA) and Pore Cleansing Oil (BHA).

The Pore Cleansing Balm (BHA) promises to remove makeup and impurities, control breakouts and oil, and fight blackheads using salicylic and a blend of argan, jojoba and peppermint oils.

This has a balmy texture but it feels oily once you massage it on the skin. It melts into a heavy balm consistency but doesn’t leave a film upon rinsing. It removes everyday makeup but needs more massaging if I have waterproof makeup or complicated eye looks. It also leaves my skin soft and supple after rinsing. This, however, does not emulsify easily so I rub this onto my hands to breakdown the product before applying it on my skin.

On the other hand, the Pore Cleansing Oil [BHA] uses salicylic acid, a blend of fruit oils, including orange, lemon, and grapefruit, as well as olive and jojoba oils, to cleanse the skin and prevent breakouts. The watery oil consistency leaves the skin feeling moist. It leaves a bit of a film after wash but this is easier to use than the balm because it easily emulsifies with water. The filmy feeling is okay, since I always do a second cleanse, but I like my first cleansers to not leave a trail as it makes me feel like I haven’t removed every grime on my skin. This is best removed with a warm cloth, which I don’t really do. However, in this method, it leaves the skin cleansed and smooth. Two pumps can remove everyday makeup and dirt.

I like using these when I’m about to get my period because my hormones are on overdrive during that time of the time and I need all the help that I can get. However, I did not see a huge difference in using both compared to other cleansing oils and balms that don’t cater to a specific skin type. As a cleansing balm lover, though, it surprised me that I enjoyed using the Pore Cleansing Oil (BHA) more as it removed makeup and dirt faster and easier.
