Skincare Review: Banila Co Dear Hydration Toner Moisture Boosting Cream

When I first found Banila Co, there already have a lot of skincare and makeup products. Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm wasn’t the only thing I bought back then but it was the only thing I kept on repurchasing because most of their products, I feel like, were targeted for those with drier skin types.

Fast forward to today, and my inner Banila Co cheerleader is jumping up and down because they have created a variety of products targeted to a lot of skin types.

Focusing on hydration, the Dear Hydration Toner ($16) and the Dear Hydration Moisture Boosting Cream ($25) aim to hydrate and nourish the skin while removing impurities and protecting the skin from environmental pollutants. They use the Urban Water Guard System, which utilizes peppermint extract, holy basil extract, neem leaf extract, bamboo, and fermented lotus water.

Both the toner and the moisturizer feel soothing and refreshing to the skin while hydrating the skin. As expected, the tone is very watery. What surprised me a bit was how the moisturizer is on the creamy side. It also felt a bit oily, which I don’t really prefer when it comes to moisturizers. It did hydrate the skin, though, but they both offered less hydration than I prefer. I feel like these products would work for those who are younger.

All these products were formulated without parabens, sulfates, phthalates, and mineral oil so they feel gentle on the skin.

Bodycare Review: Lather Celebration Bamboo Scrub

Since I have a lot more time this holiday season, I’ve been focusing on self-care. One of the things I like to do is have a bath and light a candle at night.

The Limited-Edition Celebration Bamboo Scrub from Lather smells like a quiet celebration. It has hints of chai spices, ginger, and cinnamon that makes you smile and vanilla and cardamom that sort of subdues and sweetens the party. It smooths and soothes the skin. I like using this on my arms, legs, and feet because the large scrubs really massages the overworked skin on those parts. It contains bamboo, coconut powder, turmeric, and neem leaf extract that helps leave the skin feeling refreshed, smooth, and soft. This product is cruelty-free, vegan, and is also made without parabens, sulfates, mineral oil, and synthetic fragrance and colors.

For a feel of a warm hug, while exfoliating, I light up the Let’s Celebrate soy wax candle. This heightens the smell of cardamom, ginger, cinnamon leaf, and vanilla and makes me feel calm yet happy. I like the tin-like packaging because it’s small and can be placed anywhere in my bathroom without worrying about slips and breaking. This candle is also cruelty-free and is made without parabens, sulfates, mineral oil, synthetic fragrance, artificial color, and paraffin.

Since these products are created in time for Lather’s 20th Anniversary, they will donate $1 for every Celebration Bamboo Scrub sold to The Sundara Fund. They aim to help women in India out of poverty and educate the community on hygiene.
