Cult Favorite: Onekind Pore-fectionist Refining Facial

Looking at the ingredients of the Pore-fectionist Refining Facial from Onekind (pink clay, aha, BHA, pink kaolin clay, bentonite clay, salicylic acid, lactic acid, and barley seed extract), it looks like it’s meant to be in my breakout bin. This mask promises to detoxify, smooth, brighten, and reduce redness and irritation of the skin.

I was right. I have put off using this before because my skin didn’t need it but now that it’s warmer and my skin is feeling congested recently. In fact, I just got a few blemishes even if I’m staying at home and I’m not wearing makeup that much. It’s because of the weather and to be honest, my oily skin loves being in winter more. Anyway, I have been using this once a week for a few months now and it helps clear and brighten my skin. It also helped calm blemishes and prevented them from becoming full-blown pimples. It’s recommended for use twice a week but I find it a bit strong so I only use this once a week. I also like following this with hydrating and soothing products to prevent my skin from feeling dry and tight. I would file this mask as something to pull out for emergencies.

This product is also cruelty-free and is formulated without synthetic fragrance, silicones, parabens, PEGs, phthalates, and petroleum/mineral oil. Also, according to their site, the packaging is made in a 75% post-recycled plastic (PCR) tube with a 100% PCR cap. It’s nice to know and I like the fact that they put it there for everyone’s reference.

Skincare Review: SVR Laboratoire Ampoule Hydra, Ampoule Anti-Ox, and Ampoule Lift

At my age, hydration, plumping, and radiance are important. That’s why I enjoyed trying out these new ampoules from SVR Laboratoire. As someone with oily and aging skin, I enjoyed their texture. For an ampoule, they all felt lightweight and gentle on the skin. I also liked how they all felt nourishing.

The Ampoule Hydra uses vitamin b3 and a combination of 3 hyaluronic acids to soothe, strengthen, and plump skin.

It has a gel texture but it feels thicker than most hyaluronic acid serums. I didn’t mind, though, as it dries matte quickly. It feels hydrating and plumping on the skin. I have been using this every day and I can’t get enough. My skin just loves its hyaluronic acid formulation.

For radiant and toned skin, the Ampoule Anti-Ox uses 20% optimized vitamin c.

It has a watery and runny texture but applies a bit oily on the skin. It also sits on top of the skin so I prefer a more oily-skin friendly vitamin c to be used in the morning. Those with dry skin might enjoy this better.

A new favorite, the Ampoule Lift promises to improve texture, diminish signs of wrinkles, and leave the skin smooth and even using retinol.

This has helped with my fine lines and it doesn’t sting at all. Its thin and milky consistency goes well with my skin. It applies thinly and feels light on the skin. Compared to the retinol products I have in my stash, this has the thinnest and lightest consistency. After a couple of months of use, this left my skin plump and smooth.

Cult Favorite: Kevyn Aucoin Neo-Blush

You guys know how much I prefer cream blushes but I have a few powder blush exceptions. I have the shade Sunset of the Kevyn Aucoin Neo-Blush and since I’ve been trying out other blush shades, I wanted to try this bright coral shade on my cheeks. Yes, this is in powder form but it applies seamlessly even when I use cream highlighters underneath. It doesn’t highlight my pores and it applies like butter on the skin. The shade is perfect for summer and it suits my medium-toned skin. I love that I feel like I’m getting a variety of shades in one compact, I can either go deeper using the rightmost end more or lighter by using the other end of the compact.

Cult Favorite: Farmacy Green Defense

Suffering from major period cramps today but decided to put on some makeup. I was hoping feel better (I didn’t) but at least I look good. Anyway, after my skincare routine, I still use with spf because the desk I’ve been using for work us right by a window. Been using the Green Defense from Farmacy Beauty and even though this is creamier than I would prefer, it sinks in quickly into the skin. It dries semi-matte without any white cast, making it a dream to apply before makeup. I usually do spf 50 or higher for everyday but I would go for this when I’m indoors.

Cult Favorite: Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint

I’ve currently been using the Super Serum Skin Tint from Ilia Beauty. It has SPF 40, which totally works for me. The skin tint is also formulated with a blend of hyaluronic acids, squalene, and niacinamide to even, hydrate, and plump the skin, soften fine lines and imperfections, and boost antioxidant effectiveness. It’s also oil-free and silicone-free.

I’m honestly surprised to find this not oily at all. it feels creamy but it applies thinly on the skin and provides enough coverage. When I mean enough, I mean this was able to lightly cover up discoloration and redness. Not everything but enough to make me look like I care. It doesn’t blur pores and texture but it just gives me healthy-looking and plump complexion. I also like that this doesn’t feel like it’s sitting on top of your face. Instead, it just leaves a slightly silky texture.

I like applying this is with the damp sponge and I like how this evenly blends well into the skin easily, without any streaking or pilling. I didn’t have any problems combining this with other creamy products like the Liquid Light, Color Haze, and Multi-Stick. This is what I use whenever I want to go for that natural dewy look.
