Skincare Review: Kate Somerville Liquid ExfoliKate

When Kate Somerville gifted me their new product, The Liquid Exfolikate, I was curious. I have tried the original exfoliate and thought it was okay. I didn’t become a favorite as I have my go-to exfoliators then. However, I was looking for another exfoliating toner to help with my texture and pores.

The Liquid Exfolikate contains 10% AHAs (glycolic, lactic, and malic acids) and pumpkin, papaya and pineapple enzymes to sloughs away surface dullness, caviar lime extract and phytic acid to brighten, and peptides, honey, and tea extracts to soothe and hydrate the skin.

I use the #LiquidExfoliKate as a toner every night. It has a runny and water-like consistency. It smells clinical and feels exfoliating. It stings on the parts of my face where my pores are the largest and where textures are visible but only for a few seconds. It feels gentle enough on the skin and it sinks in quickly into the skin but leaving a bit of tackiness that dries down after a few seconds. It can feel a bit drying so I like to follow this with hydrating products and lather on a sleeping mask to moisturize my skin. It was able to cleanse my skin and after a few weeks of use, I noticed brightness and a bit of evenness in my skin tone. Not to the point of completely fading some of the discolorations around my mouth but lightened it a bit.

What’s the most noticeable though is the improvement on the state of my pores. I saw a subtle change in the appearance or lack thereof. It not as noticeable now. I don’t believe that it minimized them but sort if tightened them a bit, especially those on my cheeks. It also improved the textures and bumps on both sides of my face. So far, I’ve been liking its effects and I cannot wait to try more.
